Part 159432 replaces the entire motor and fan section of Eureka and Sanitaire's 1400-series uprights in one piece, everything responsible for generating suction in the machine. It arrives as a complete unit rather than a rebuild kit, so the whole suction section is replaced in one go.
The failure sequence on these machines is fairly consistent: a rumble builds in the bearings, the machine's overall noise level climbs week over week, pulling power drops off behind that noise, and by the time you catch a scorched smell the motor is essentially done. Before condemning the motor, rule out the simple causes of weak pickup, since a full bag, a blocked hose or a filter that has not been changed in months can imitate a tired motor closely enough to fool anyone.
Verified fits are the Eureka/Sanitaire 1934A, C2132A, C2132B, C2132B1, C2132B2, C2133A, SC679J, SC689A, SL635A and SL635B. Read the model number off your machine's nameplate and check it against that list before buying, since Eureka and Sanitaire carried very similar-looking bodies across more than one upright series. Opening the machine to swap the motor means working around the mains wiring, so it suits someone already comfortable inside the housing.
