The nozzle bumper is the strip of trim around the front and sides of the cleaning head that takes the impact when the machine meets a baseboard, a table leg or a door frame. Part 3634221 is the bumper for the Sanitaire S635 upright.
It is a wear part by design - it exists so the nozzle housing does not take those hits itself. Once the bumper is knocked loose, torn, or worn thin at the corners, the plastic behind it starts absorbing the impacts, and it stops protecting furniture and trim from the machine.
It fits the Eureka and Sanitaire S635A and SL635A. Note that the SL635B takes a different bumper, part 3699935, so check the exact suffix on your data plate before ordering.
