Every push, pull and turn made with the machine travels up the tube running along its back. Part 1848 is that handle tube, supplied for the SEBO 370 Comfort and Electronic 370.
Bends and splits show up at the ends, where the fittings concentrate the leverage. A tube that has started to flex makes the upright feel vague to steer, and once a crack opens up, the grip and the wiring passing through it lose their anchor point. There is a second consequence that matters more: a cracked tube lets the internal lead move against a sharp edge every time the machine is reclined, and that is a reliable way to damage the cable as well. Renewing the tube restores the backbone the rest of the machine hangs off and takes the load off everything routed inside it.

Testing the old tube is a matter of feel. Hold the machine by the grip and twist gently: a sound tube resists as one piece, while a cracked one gives a soft, delayed movement before it takes up.
