This end cap and screw set, part 156784S, is for the older Kirby uprights with the ball bearing brush roll: the 513, Classic I CR, Classic III 2CB, Classic Omega 1CB, Dual Sanitronic 50 and 80, Sanitronic VII, Tradition 3CB, Heritage I, Heritage II, Heritage II Legend and Legend II.
The cap seals the end of the roller and holds the bearing; the screws keep the whole thing clamped together. Screws back out under vibration on these machines, and once one is loose the cap moves, the bearing takes load off-axis, and the roll starts to wobble and grind.
Buying the set means the screws match the cap. The usual failure on a rebuilt roll is a substituted screw of the wrong length or thread that strips out on the second service. Check your model against the list before ordering.
