Kirby part 188087G is the round neck gasket that seals the mini em-tor against the machine. It is a simple ring, and it is the only thing standing between the fan outlet and the room. It fits a long run of Kirby uprights: the 516, the Classic I CR, Classic III 2CB, Classic Omega 1CB, Dual Sanitronic 50 and 80, the Heritage I and II, Heritage II Legend, Legend II, the Tradition 3CB and the Tradition.
Rubber of this age does not tear so much as flatten. It takes a permanent set, loses its squeeze, and then air escapes at the neck instead of going into the bag. The owner sees a dusty film around the em-tor mount and a machine that seems to have lost its edge.
It is a few minutes of work and cheap, so replace it any time the em-tor comes off for other reasons.
