Part 111290 is the scuff plate for the Kirby Generation 3. It fits across the front of the nozzle, the point that makes contact with baseboards, cabinet kicks and furniture legs every time the machine is run along a wall.
Most Generation 3 machines still in service have a plate that is cracked, chipped or long gone. The consequence is not cosmetic for long: with the plate missing, the nozzle housing itself starts taking the impacts, and that is a far more expensive piece to replace.
This one mounts to the original fixing points on the G3, so there is no drilling or adaptation involved. If you are restoring a Generation 3 it is one of the cheapest parts on the machine and one of the most visible improvements.
