Black nozzle bumper for the Kirby Heritage II and Heritage II Legend, supplied as genuine Kirby part 140486.
On a machine of this age the original bumper has usually gone hard. Trim of this kind shrinks and loses its flex over decades, so what was a shock absorber becomes a brittle strip that splits at the corners and eventually parts company with the nozzle. The moment it does, the front edge of the casting is meeting furniture directly, which marks the furniture and chips the nozzle.
A fresh bumper is a small part of a Heritage restoration but a visible one. It tidies the front of the machine and stops the damage going any further, and it fits in place of the original with no tools. Check the color and profile against yours before ordering, as Kirby also used a maroon trim on machines of this era.
