The black cord strap, part R1045B, is the loop that holds the coiled power cord on a Rainbow D2, D3 or D4 between uses. Simple as it is, it is the reason the cord stays on the machine instead of on the floor.
Straps perish rather than break outright: the material stiffens, the grip goes, and one day the coil slides off while the machine is being carried. What follows is a cord that gets stood on, run over by the power nozzle and pulled at the plug - which is how cords fail early on machines that are otherwise well looked after.
It fits in seconds with no tools. Coil the cord loosely rather than winding it tight, since hard bends at the plug end are where conductors eventually break.
