A convertible stick earns its keep on the tasks a full-size upright handles awkwardly: stairs, a car interior, upholstery and a spill that does not justify pulling out a bigger machine. Riccar rates the R65 at up to 40 minutes, which covers a lot of short sessions but is worth planning around if you intend it to be the only vacuum in the house.
Five speeds including an Auto setting are the part most owners actually use day to day. Auto leans on an infrared dust sensor that reads how much debris is coming up and raises or drops suction to match, so the machine is not running at full draw across a clean stretch of floor and spending runtime doing it. On a battery machine that behavior is worth more than it sounds, since the limiting factor is almost always charge rather than suction. The charging stand doubles as tool storage, which keeps the attachments with the vacuum instead of in a drawer.
