SEBO Top Casing for C3.1 — Red

6397DR is the red upper shell of a SEBO C3.1: the single large moulding that forms the whole top face of the canister, carries the trim mounted into it and closes onto the lower half of the body.

Owners tend to read a damaged casing as a cosmetic problem, and it is not. Two shell halves are drawn together by clips — SEBO sells them singly under 6086HG — and a clip can only pull the machine tight if the plastic it bears against is whole. Once a fracture runs near one of those clip points, the halves stop meeting under pressure and the seam between them starts admitting air. Air entering anywhere other than the hose end is air the motor moves without doing any cleaning, so a split shell eventually shows up as reduced pull at the nozzle rather than only as a mark on the lid.

Reasons to fit a new one: a crack across the lid area, a gouge deep enough to reach through, or a shell that has been distorted and no longer sits square on the body. Foam bumper 6046UL is what absorbs the impacts against skirting boards and furniture legs, and it frequently tears loose along with a casing that has been hit hard enough to need replacing, so check its condition while the machine is apart.
