SEBO Shaft Extension for AU...

Product details
Between the motor and the brush roller of a SEBO upright there is a short extension shaft, and everything the drive does has to pass through it. Part 5246 is the replacement for that component on the AUTOMATIC X2, AUTOMATIC X5 and AUTOMATIC X8.
Wear at the shaft rarely announces itself as a failure. It shows up first as noise — a rattle that arrives under load on deep pile and disappears on hard floor — and then as behaviour: a belt that creeps toward one shoulder of the pulley and wears bright on one edge, a roller that will not hold speed against a heavy carpet, and eventually drive that slips away entirely. Because a slipping belt produces the same complaint, the shaft is often overlooked and the belt gets changed twice before anyone checks the extension it runs against.
Renewing a worn shaft takes the slack out of the drive line so the roller turns true and the belt tracks where the design intended. It is a sensible inspection point during any power head service, alongside the belt and the roller bearings. On the AUTOMATIC X2 and AUTOMATIC X5, the bearing seal at the end of the roller is 5244HG, and it is common practice to renew that seal while the head is already open.
