Bissell's 2-in-1 pet tool attaches to the hose end of a ProHeat carpet cleaner; part 1610149 replaces a lost or worn original. One side of the head is built for stairs and upholstery work, and the opposite side narrows for treating a small pet-stain patch on carpet, so the machine does not have to be wheeled over for a single spot.
Wear on a tool like this shows up first at the joint where it meets the hose. Once that joint stops sealing tightly, spray pressure falls away and the head no longer pulls water back out of the pile, so a treated patch is left wetter rather than cleaner. Cracks anywhere in the plastic body do the same thing, and a spot that keeps rewetting after several passes usually points at the tool rather than at the machine feeding it.
This tool fits the ProHeat 2X Revolution 1986 and 2007 as well as the ProHeat 1548, 1551, 20666 and 3588.
Rinsing the tip under the tap after each use is worth the few seconds it takes, since dried cleaning residue clogging the nozzle is the most common reason a properly sealed tool starts spraying unevenly. Supporting the tool when it is set down, rather than letting it hang off the hose between jobs, keeps steady strain off that joint, which is the main thing that shortens working life over repeated use.
