A rear wheel wears in ways that are easy to miss until the canister starts fighting you across the floor rather than gliding behind it the way it used to. The tread flattens on one side from months of rolling in the same direction, the axle bore widens until the wheel wobbles instead of tracking true, or a hairline crack around the hub finally lets go under the machine's own weight. Any one of those three turns a canister that once moved smoothly into one that drags, catches at transitions between rooms, and can leave a faint scuff on hard flooring where the wheel is no longer rolling cleanly across it.
Because many distinct canister bodies have carried the Panasonic and Kenmore names, a wheel that looks right is not automatically the right wheel for your machine.
