This is the AMETEK power nozzle motor used to drive the brushroll on full-size Riccar and Simplicity power nozzles, sold as part number A113-2200. It is an AMETEK-built motor, the same make already fitted to these heads.
A motor that buzzes but will not turn, gives off a hot smell, or only starts spinning after a nudge is nearing failure. Once it quits, the brushroll goes still and a powered head turns into an ordinary floor tool, one that still pulls air but no longer works carpet pile open, which is why swapping the motor is usually the cheaper path compared with replacing the entire nozzle. Because this motor spins the brushroll rather than the vacuum's main suction fan, a failure here shows up as lost carpet performance specifically, while pickup on bare floors and through the hose stays about the same.
