On the older Kirbys this hook does double duty: it carries the fill tube end of the bag and gives the power cord something to wrap around. Part 173673G supplies two of them for the Kirby Classic and the Dual Sanitronic D-80.
They break where you would expect, at the root, from the leverage of a full bag and years of cord being pulled off in a hurry rather than unwound. Once one is gone the bag hangs crooked and rubs, and the cord will not stay put, so it trails and gets run over. Neither problem is dramatic; both are irritating every single time the machine comes out.
Two per pack covers both positions. They mount in place of the old hooks with no modification, so check your machine is a Classic or a D-80 and fit the pair together.
