Part 173676A is the bag and cord hook used across Kirby's Classic and Tradition machines, supplied two to a pack.

Its job is unglamorous: anchoring the bag and holding the wrapped cord on a machine that gets carried, dropped and left in a closet for decades. The plastic goes brittle and then snaps at the base, usually while somebody is hauling the cord free instead of unwinding it. After that the cord will not stay wrapped and the top of the bag has nothing holding it in position.

The same hook covers the Classic 1CR, Classic Omega 1CB, Classic III 2CB, Tradition 3CB and the Dual Sanitronic D80. Two in the pack means both hooks get done at once, which is the sensible way to do it, since the surviving one is exactly as old as the one that broke.
