Sold as part number B350-8601B, this felt piece seals the belt compartment on a full-size Riccar and Simplicity power nozzle. It is cut from FE038 felt stock and positioned between the belt housing and the body of the nozzle, where it keeps airflow from escaping at that seam and keeps belt dust and carpet fiber out of the mechanism.

Felt compresses gradually over years on the job, and once it has gone flat it leaks: the nozzle runs at the same volume but the carpet gets less pull. Whenever the belt cover happens to be off already for a belt swap, that is the sensible moment to check this seal too.
