Product details

Part 1608223 pairs a replacement wheel with its own axle for Bissell's PowerForce Helix uprights, covering the 1700, 1701, 2190 and 2191 models, and separately fitting the PowerForce Helix Turbo lineup, models 2691 and 2692, since all of them roll on this same wheel-and-axle hardware.

The wheel and axle are sold as one unit because they fail as a pair: contamination works its way into the bore over years of use, scoring the axle surface, and a wheel that once turned freely starts binding against that worn metal instead. Buying just the wheel against an already-scored axle only relocates the noise rather than fixing it, since the new wheel wears against the same damaged surface within a matter of weeks. The end result is a corner that drags instead of rolls, a machine that suddenly takes noticeably more effort to push, and a scuffed track left behind on any hard floor the frozen wheel crosses.

A machine with one seized wheel is worth a look at its opposite number too. Both wheels carry the same load and pick up the same grit over the same miles, so if one has already failed, the other is usually not far off in wear even if it still spins freely for now.

A light film of grease on the new axle before it goes in, kept clear of the wheel's own contact face, slows the same contamination that wore out the original, and it costs nothing extra while the housing is already open for the repair.
