Bissell Bottom Plate - 2259...

Product details

Bottom plate 1616186 sits under the nozzle on a closely related family of Bissell uprights, closing the brush chamber and setting how close the brush roll rides to the carpet.

It covers eleven Bissell model numbers: the 2252 through 2260 run, plus the 2316 and 2316C. A plate that has cracked, warped or shed a mounting tab lets air leak past the seal instead of pulling through the brush, and the usual sign is a strip of fine grit a pass would normally have lifted, now sitting untouched on the carpet. A rattle from the nozzle as the plate flexes under load often shows up before the suction loss does, and it tends to get worse on hard floor transitions where the nozzle takes a small impact with every threshold.

With eleven close model numbers sharing this one panel, two machines that look identical on the shelf can differ in small ways elsewhere, so match the exact number stamped on the machine's data label rather than going by appearance alone.

Swapping the plate is a flip-the-machine-over job rather than a full teardown: tip the upright onto its back, remove the screws holding the plate to the base casting, and lift the old panel free of the brush chamber before setting the replacement into the same screw bosses. Clear any packed lint or hair from the chamber opening while it is exposed, since debris left behind at this point tends to work its way back into the new seal within the first few uses.

  • Part: 1616186, bottom plate
  • Fits: Bissell 2252, 2253, 2254, 2255, 2256, 2258, 2259, 2259C, 2260, 2316, 2316C
  • Function: closes the underside of the nozzle and seals the brush chamber
  • Watch for: a cracked mounting tab, a rattling nozzle, or debris left on carpet the machine used to clean
  • Before ordering: confirm the exact model number on the rating plate, since the family covers many close variants
