Product details
Part 1625645 is the brush roll Bissell lists for the PowerLifter upright, covering both the 2920 and the 3059. It carries the scrubbing half of the job while the motor supplies the draw, and suction on its own cannot lift dirt that stiff bristles have not first loosened out of the carpet.
Wear creeps in slowly here. Bristles shorten and splay a little at a time, a faint film of pet hair starts showing up after each pass, and a job that once took ten minutes stretches out without any single obvious cause. Because nothing about the sound or the suction changes along the way, the roller tends to be the last thing anyone suspects.
Clear any hair or thread that has wound around the roller on a regular basis once the new one is in. Buildup left in place adds drag, and drag is harder on the belt than ordinary use ever is, so a roller kept clear protects both parts at once.
Before the machine is closed back up, spin the roller by hand and confirm it turns without resistance. Binding at that stage gets worse rather than better once the belt takes over and the roller is under load, and it is far easier to sort out while everything is still apart.
