Belt slip gets blamed on the belt, but a grooved or oval pulley will chew through a new belt just as fast. Part 2458 is the brush roller pulley used on the SEBO ELECTRONIC 370 and the SEBO ET-C power head, and it is the wheel the belt actually rides on at the roller end.
Its job is to take drive from the belt and put it into the brush roller. That means it carries the full torque of the motor through a small contact area, and the surface finish of the pulley is what stops the belt slipping under load. Wear shows up as a groove worn into the running face, a rim gone out of round, or a bore that has opened up so the pulley wobbles on the roller. Symptoms at the machine: the roller slows in deep pile, the belt squeals on start-up, black rubber dust collects around the brush chamber, and carpet grooming falls off so grit stays down in the pile.
Fit a new belt alongside the pulley, since a worn pulley rarely leaves the old belt in good shape, and check the roller bearings while the head is open. The inner plastic bearing for both of these machines is listed as 2467, and it is a common companion job because a stiff bearing loads the belt and pulley together.
