Small replacement spring for the button lock used on Riccar 20 Series, Simplicity 20 Series and Maytag M700 clean air uprights, listed as B434-5300. The spring sits behind the lock button and keeps it pushed out into its detent, which is what holds the joint tight instead of letting it creep loose while you clean.
Once the spring weakens or drops out, the button no longer returns flush with the housing and the connection starts to separate under a pull. It is an inexpensive piece to renew while the assembly is already apart.
