Wrapping the cord puts its whole load on one small moulded hook. Part 51108HG is the light gray cable hook for the ESSENTIAL G4 and G5, the fixed anchor the power cord loops over when the machine is put away.
Plastic hooks give up predictably. Either the tip snaps off, usually while someone is unwinding in a hurry, or the hook shears at its mounting after years of being loaded in the same direction. From then on the cord slides free, drags along the floor and collects the scuffs, kinks and eventually the internal breaks that cost a whole cord to put right. Replacing the hook is a few minutes' work and stops the cord becoming the next problem.
Worth checking at the same time: a hook that has been broken for a while usually means the cord has been dragging, so run it through your hands looking for flattened sections, nicks in the outer sheath and any point where the insulation feels stiff.
