Bracket subassembly for the carpet and bare floor switch, part C017-3800, supplied as the R and 6 series upgrade for Riccar and Simplicity uprights. The bracket carries the switch mechanism that shifts the nozzle between carpet and hard floor settings, and it has to stay rigid for the switch to hold position.
When the bracket cracks or its mounting holes elongate, the pedal goes vague and the setting can drift back on its own mid pass. The upgraded bracket replaces the earlier one in the same location.
