Part C017-3800 is the carpet and floor switch bracket subassembly supplied as the R and 6 Series upgrade. It is listed for the Maytag M700 and for the Riccar R20 and Simplicity S20 series uprights. A bracket of this kind is the structural piece that carries the carpet and bare floor selector switch, so its work is holding that switch steady in whichever setting has been chosen.

Brackets are replaced because they have broken, not because they have worn out on any schedule.
