The belt guard is the plastic shield that sits over the belt and brush roll drive on Carpet Pro commercial uprights, and this is the replacement, part B014-0500. It fits the CPU1, CPU1T, CPU2 and CPU2T, the Clean Max CMPSQD, and the Fuller Brush FBHD1, FBHD1T, FBPHD2, FBPHD2T and FBP-14PWBP. The same guard is used on Riccar and Simplicity commercial uprights.
With the guard cracked or missing, hair, string and carpet fibre find their way straight into the belt path and wrap the pulley. Belts then wear out in weeks instead of months, and the brush roll starts to slow under load. In a commercial machine that runs every day, that is a repeat repair rather than a one-off.
Fitting a sound guard back over the drive keeps debris out and stops the belt failures that come with it.
