Product details

Underneath the nozzle of a Titan T500 upright, a set of small wheels set into the base plate carries the front of the machine as it moves, and part B370-1843 is one of them.

This same component turns up on the Maytag M500, on Carpet Pro's CP-ULW and ZM-400, on the Clean Max ZM800, and on the Fuller Brush FB-SM. Given enough thresholds crossed, these little wheels develop a flat edge, bind up tight against their axle, or chip away a piece of their tread entirely. Once any of that happens the machine gets noticeably harder to push, pulls toward whichever corner is affected, and if the wheel has actually locked up, it will start scoring hardwood or laminate rather than turning over it.

A wheel worn flat on just one side, rather than evenly all around, is usually a sign the machine spent a long stretch standing still with its full weight resting on that single spot, something that happens often in commercial settings where a unit gets parked upright in a closet between shifts instead of stored on its back. Once it moves again, that flat side produces a distinct thump on every turn, a different sound entirely from the grinding a seized axle makes.

Before mounting the new wheel, strip away any fibers wound tight around the axle pin itself, since that buildup is typically what dooms the wheel that follows.

  • Part: B370-1843, bottom plate wheel
  • Fits: Titan T500, Maytag M500, Carpet Pro CP-ULW, ZM-400, Clean Max ZM800, Fuller Brush FB-SM
  • Function: small wheel mounted in the base plate that carries the nozzle across the floor
  • Replace when: the machine drags at one corner, pushes harder than normal, or the wheel has gone flat-spotted or seized
  • Prevent recurrence: strip fibers wound around the axle pin, the usual cause of a seized wheel
