Product details
Suction on an upright vacuum is generated almost entirely by the fan, and on the Clean Max ZM800, Titan T500 and related Maytag M500 platform, that fan is a specific molded impeller rather than a generic part that happens to fit the housing. Its blade pitch and balance are matched to this motor and airway, which is why a wrong-fit substitute tends to run noisy even when it technically spins.
Fans fail two ways. A coin, screw or piece of gravel pulled through the airstream chips a blade, and the fan goes from smooth to a rattling, unbalanced hum almost instantly, usually paired with a sudden drop in pickup. The slower failure is fatigue cracking at the hub after years of cycling, which shows up as a gradual loss of suction and a faint whine that gets louder over weeks rather than appearing all at once.
Part B220-4314 also fits the Riccar R17 and the Simplicity and Riccar R10P and R10S built on this shared platform. A fan replacement is also a reasonable moment to check the surrounding fan chamber for the same debris that damaged the original blade, since a stray coin or piece of gravel can rattle around and cause repeat damage if it is not cleared out first.
