CUFF-CP is the black tapered fitting that terminates 1-1/4 in. crushproof vacuum hose. Grip and taper work together here: the fitting clamps onto the hose wall and narrows the opening so the end seats snugly into a wand, tool or inlet instead of wobbling free under its own weight.

Hose ends typically give out before the hose body does. A fitting like this one can split, lose its grip on the wall, or crack right at the taper long after the rest of the hose is still airtight, which makes replacing just the fitting the cheaper fix when the hose itself is sound. One that spins freely on the hose has already lost its seal even if it still looks intact.
