Black inlet seal for the direct-air motor on MV ULW series Riccar and Simplicity uprights. Part B480-4514 seats between the nozzle air path and the motor inlet, so everything the nozzle picks up is drawn straight into the fan.
A hardened or missing inlet seal is one of the quietest causes of weak pickup. The motor still sounds strong, but part of the airflow it is moving comes from inside the housing instead of from the floor. Closing that leak puts the suction back where you can feel it.
