This is a direct-air motor mount, part B386-1114B. This mount cradles the motor inside the vacuum body and soaks up the shaking a fast-spinning armature sends into the housing, so a worn-out mount tends to announce itself through an odd new sound rather than through weaker pickup.
The rubber compound these mounts are made from stiffens and splits after years of heat cycling, and once it does, the motor sits a little looser than it should inside its cradle. That looseness shows up as a buzz or rattle that tracks with motor speed, which is easy to mistake for an early bearing failure.
