Part 1790125000 is the gasket that seals the fan motor cover on the Dirt Devil CE7900 and the equivalent Royal RY7910 and RY7940 machines. It is a soft seal sitting between the cover and the housing, and everything the fan pulls has to pass it.
Gaskets in this position cook slowly. The material hardens, loses its spring, then splits or takes a permanent set, and once that happens the cover no longer seals. The machine starts drawing air through the gap instead of through the cleaning path, so suction at the floor drops even though nothing sounds wrong, and fine dust gets a route toward the motor it should never have.
Fitting a fresh gasket closes the path again. Seat it fully in its groove all the way round before the cover goes back on; a gasket pinched or riding proud at one corner leaks just as badly as the old one did.
