Dirt Devil Spinnergy Belt -...

$7.99

Product details

Dirt Devil sold this style 20 belt as its Spinnergy belt, catalog number 120000, and the same belt is cross-listed for Hoover's UH70055, part 1JZ0900000.

This belt loops the motor shaft to the brush roll spindle the same way any upright belt does, and it is normally the first part to wear out on a machine that otherwise still runs fine. A belt under load stretches gradually before it fails outright, so performance fades in stages rather than all at once, which is why it is easy to not notice the decline until the machine feels noticeably weaker than it used to.

A glazed belt looks shiny and feels slick rather than matte and slightly tacky, and it can slip under load even while it still looks intact and unbroken. If the brush roll spins freely when you turn it by hand but bogs down or stalls once it meets carpet resistance, that slipping is almost always the belt rather than the motor, since a healthy motor has no trouble driving a properly gripping belt.

Replacing a drive belt on an upright is normally a short job rather than a teardown, but check how the belt compartment on your own machine opens before you start, since access differs from one model to the next and forcing a panel is the quickest way to turn a belt change into a bigger repair.
