Part C224-0014 is the black latch assembly that holds the dust bag compartment cover shut on Simplicity Symmetry upright vacuums.
A worn or cracked latch either lets the cover pop open on its own or forces you to hold it shut while the machine runs, and either way the compartment loses the seal the vacuum needs for full suction. A latch that catches but releases at the lightest touch has usually worn at the catch surface itself rather than at the spring behind it.
