The E cover plate (part 35728A1) is an E-series panel that fits over internal components and shields them while the vacuum operates. It follows the E-type cover plate specification, seating over the original mounting area on compatible machines.

Once a cover plate cracks or goes missing, the parts beneath it sit open to dust, knocks, and stray debris, and a loose plate can buzz against the housing. Putting the right E-series plate back in place re-covers those components and quiets the housing, returning the machine to a clean, closed state.
