Product details

On an SC380B power unit, the metal upper body is what turns a motor and a lid into a working vacuum. It is the cylinder that holds the motor, seats the lid gasket, and channels airflow from the intake through to the exhaust, and it is the one component on the unit that has to stay both rigid and airtight at the same time.

Fits the Electrolux SC380B power unit. A shell that has cracked, dented at the rim, corroded, or simply lost its shape from age will not hold a seal against the lid no matter how new the gasket is, and the result shows up as weak suction across every inlet in the house rather than at any one spot.

  • Fits: Electrolux SC380B power unit
  • Type: Metal upper body / cylinder, structural shell
  • Function: Houses the motor and seals to the lid and gaskets
  • Replace when: Rim damage, cracking, or corrosion that breaks the lid seal

As with any metal upper body, support the shell from underneath rather than by the rim when installing it with the motor already in place. The rim is a sealing surface first and a structural handle second, and lifting from it risks the very distortion that causes leaks down the road.

Before swapping this out, check whether the leak is actually at the shell or at the lid gasket sitting on top of it, since a fresh gasket on a warped shell will still leak, and a new shell under an old, hardened gasket has the same problem in reverse. Replacing both together when either one shows real age is often the more reliable fix than chasing a leak back and forth between the two. Listed under SKU 125519.
