Electrostatic secondary filter, part B480-5500, for MV-platform Riccar and Simplicity uprights. Electrostatic media carries a static charge that pulls fine particles out of the airstream and holds them, so it captures far more than a plain foam pad of the same thickness while still passing air freely.
Positioned after the bag and before the motor, this stage is the machine's last line of defense against the dust that works through a bag wall. Change it on the same rhythm as your bags; the media has no way to be cleaned and simply loses efficiency as it fills.
