Eureka Brush Roll End Cap -...

Product details
Each end of the brush roll in an Eureka or Sanitaire SC899G upright turns on an end cap, and part 26058A is the new-style cap for the VGI, or Vibragroomer I, roll, the version made to take the rubber cover and mount.
An end cap keeps its end of the roll supported and centered so the roll spins true in the nozzle instead of wandering. Once a cap wears or cracks where it presses onto the roll, that end starts running off-center, and the symptoms follow from there: agitation goes uneven across the width of the nozzle, a knock develops inside the brush chamber as the roll contacts the housing, and the belt starts coming off even though its tension checks out fine. A machine cycling through belts faster than usual is often wearing out caps, not belts.
Fitting replacement caps in pairs, one at each end of the roll, keeps the roll supported evenly instead of fixing one side while the other keeps wearing toward the same failure. Because the two caps rarely wear at identical rates, a machine showing symptoms on one side often has a second cap not far behind it.
Note the style before ordering: this is the new-style cap, distinguished by taking the rubber cover and mount, so check what your roll currently carries and confirm the SC899G designation on the machine's data plate. The same upright sold under both the Eureka and Sanitaire names, and this cap is listed for it under both.
