Foam motor filter for the Eureka and Sanitaire Mighty Mite, part 38333, fitting the 3631A, 3673A, SC3683D and SL3681A across the Mighty Mite I, II and 3600 series canisters.
This is the filter between the bag and the motor, and its job is to catch whatever gets past a torn or badly seated bag before it reaches the fan. Foam loads gradually and turns grey, then stiff. A machine with a clogged motor filter feels down on power everywhere, runs hot, and often smells faintly of scorched dust after ten minutes of use, all with a fresh bag fitted, which is exactly why the filter gets overlooked.
Check it every time you change a bag and replace it once it will not wash back to a clean pale colour. It is a couple of dollars standing between the motor and a bag failure.
