Eureka Strain Relief Spring...

Product details
This five-pack covers the strain relief spring used on a range of Eureka and Sanitaire uprights, part 53077SAN, the coil that cushions the power cord where it exits the machine's base.
That exit point sees more repeated flexing than any other section of cord, since the machine gets wrapped and unwrapped for storage constantly and the cord bends hard against the housing edge every single time. Once the spring loses its tension or breaks, the cord loses that cushioning and starts flexing directly against sharp plastic instead, which is how the wires inside break down while the outer jacket still looks intact. A cord that keeps failing at the same spot, or shows fraying right where it meets the housing, points to this spring rather than the cord itself.
- Part: 53077SAN strain relief spring, 5 per pack
- Fits: Eureka and Sanitaire C2094E, C2094F, C4046E, SC877D, SC877E, SC887D, SC887E, SC888G
- Function: Cushions the cord at the housing exit point to prevent sharp flexing
- Tell: Fraying or repeated cord failure right at the base of the machine
Slide the new spring over the cord and seat it into the housing opening the same way the original sat. With five in a pack, it is practical to keep a spare on hand if you service more than one of these machines.
A spring that has already snapped can sometimes still be found rattling loose inside the housing, so it is worth checking carefully that there is not a broken metal fragment left behind before the new one goes in and the cord is reseated in its opening.
