Product details

Part K100180 is the field housing for the Kirby Omega, Classic III and Heritage. The field housing carries the motor's field windings and holds them concentric around the armature, which makes it a structural part of the motor rather than a cover over it.

These machines are old enough now that most repairs on them are motor repairs. A housing cracks from a drop, a mounting ear breaks off, or rust works its way in — and once the windings are no longer held true, the armature runs off center, the motor gets loud, draws more current, and eventually cooks itself. There is no shimming your way out of it.

This is a job for someone comfortable inside a vacuum motor: unplug the machine, pull the motor, and rebuild the assembly around the new housing. While it is apart, put new carbon brushes in and check the bearings.
