This PowerMate base plate, part KC03RBZT1V07, is the bottom cover for Kenmore canister power nozzles that use a manual reset button rather than the auto reset style.
The plate closes up the underside of the nozzle around the motor and agitator brush, and it is one of the parts most exposed to daily contact with furniture and doorframes. Once it cracks or the mounting tabs snap off, the plate no longer holds a tight seal against the carpet, and suction bleeds off at the nozzle before it ever pulls dirt from the floor even though the motor still runs fine.
