SEBO Front Cover Seal for A...

Product details
Suction that never reaches the nozzle is usually escaping somewhere it should not, and the joint at the front cover is a common place for it to go. Order code 5454 is the seal closing that joint on the AUTOMATIC X4, the X4 Boost and the AUTOMATIC X5, drawn as item 11 on the AUTOMATIC X4/X5 sheet.
Rubber held under constant compression takes a permanent set. After enough years the seal no longer stands proud enough to be squeezed when the cover shuts, or it has hardened until it splits along the compressed face. The cover, released by the catch at item 19 and carrying the moulding at item 17, then closes onto a broken sealing face instead of a continuous one. What you notice is a thin whistle at the seam while the machine runs, dust escaping at the cover edge, and airflow that has quietly fallen away with no blocked bag or filter to explain it.
It is one of the few genuinely simple restorations on these machines. The tired seal lifts out of its channel, the channel is wiped clean, and the new one presses in. Where the cover itself has cracked as well, the seal also forms part of the complete front cover assemblies, items 5749 and 5750.

Seals are better changed on schedule than on symptom, because what they give away builds so gradually that nobody can name the day it started.
