This spacer sets the standoff between a hall sensor and the component it reads on the dot-2 revision of Riccar's R20 and Simplicity's S20 upright platform, which is the mechanism by which the machine follows brushroll and belt motion instead of operating with no feedback at all.
Hall sensors read a passing magnet without any physical contact, so the spacer's job is purely dimensional rather than electrical: it holds the sensor at the distance the magnet needs to pass for a reliable signal, and it carries none of the current or switching itself.
Spacer thickness is not something to guess at. Building the stack back to a different thickness than what came out either keeps the sensor from reading at all or leaves it positioned where the moving part it watches can strike it, so match the original dimension exactly.
