Part 17397 is the small belt fitted inside Royal's hand cleaner, spinning the roller built into the head of the unit.
A handheld like this rarely runs for more than a minute at a stretch, but that minute is usually spent on stairs, cushions or a car seat, the exact surfaces that feed hair and thread straight onto a small roller. Once enough of that builds up, the short belt stretches and glazes and eventually gives up the moment the roller meets any real resistance. The tell is a unit that still sounds normal but stops clearing a stair tread, or a roller that seizes as soon as you press it against upholstery.
Because the roller here is compact, even a modest wrap of hair can jam it almost solid, and a new belt fitted onto a jammed roller fails again within minutes. It pays to spin the roller with a finger first and confirm it turns freely before the belt goes on.
