Tension spring from the height adjustment mechanism used in full size power nozzles, part A350-2200. The spring keeps load on the height adjust linkage so the selected carpet setting stays put instead of drifting while the nozzle is worked back and forth.

A stretched or snapped spring is easy to spot in use: the selector feels slack, will not stay in a position, or the nozzle sinks to its lowest setting on its own and starts bogging down in deep pile.
