Part FR450A is the black filter for the full-size Austin Air HealthMate Plus. It is the large cylindrical element the whole machine is built around: air is drawn through the media on every side, so both filtration and airflow depend on its condition.

Filters here fail by filling rather than by breaking. The unit keeps running exactly as it always did while the volume of air it can move falls away, and the room it used to keep clear starts to feel stale again. Anyone running one for allergy or asthma relief tends to notice the change before they think to check the filter. HEPA media is not washable, and rinsing or vacuuming it damages the fibers and ruins the seal.

The black casing matches the Plus cabinet. Confirm you have the full-size HealthMate Plus and not the Junior, as the two use different filters.
