This is the replacement filter for the Oreck Air Refresh WK15500B, part 430000098. It pairs HEPA media with an activated charcoal layer, so a single cartridge handles both of the jobs the unit is bought for: trapping fine airborne particles and pulling odors out of the air passing through it.
Filters load up with what they catch. As the media fills, the fan works harder against it, airflow through the unit falls away, and the room stops clearing the way it did when the machine was new. Odor control usually fades first, since the charcoal saturates well before the HEPA layer blinds off.
If the Air Refresh has grown quieter at the outlet, or smells are lingering in a room it used to handle, the filter is the part to change. It lifts out and drops back in without tools.
