This is the white valve door, part HS4000W-D, the hinged cover on the wall inlet of a Hide-A-Hose system. It is the only part of the whole installation anyone actually sees, and the part that gets caught by vacuum handles, furniture and children.

Doors break at the hinge or at the catch. A door that no longer closes leaves the inlet open to room air, and an open inlet anywhere in the system bleeds off suction everywhere else in the house, so the fault usually turns up at a completely different inlet from the broken one. A cracked door also stops sitting flush, and it shows.

Match the door to the valve rather than to the power unit — doors are specific to the valve they belong to, so check the number on your existing door or valve trim before ordering. Fitting one is a few minutes' work at the wall plate.
