Product details
The cam follower on a Hoover Convertible upright rides against the height-adjustment cam inside the base, translating the cam's shape into the up-and-down motion that sets nozzle height for different carpet pile. Part 43263005 is the two-position version used across the Convertible line.
Followers wear where they contact the cam, and once enough material is gone the nozzle no longer holds a setting cleanly. It can feel loose between positions, drop out of the deeper setting on its own, or leave the nozzle riding too high on thick carpet no matter where the dial sits. None of that points to the motor or belt, since the fault is in a single small part translating cam movement into nozzle position. Wear of this kind builds gradually and then shows up all at once, at the point where the follower can no longer track the cam profile accurately. That is why the symptom often feels like it appeared overnight even though it was building through years of normal adjustment use.
These are old, well-built machines, and Convertibles from decades back are still running today mainly because parts like this one are still made to fit them.
