If a Hoover U5183 Fusion has started running only when the handle is held just so, the fault is usually in the connector rather than the motor. Part 93001717 is the female half of that inline joint - the socket the plug seats into.
Age does two things to it. The contacts inside spread a little with every connection, so their grip on the pins softens, and the plastic shell goes brittle in the area that flexes when the handle is lowered. Once both have happened, the joint makes and breaks with movement: the machine flickers on and off, or loses the brush motor while suction carries on as normal.
Fit it dry and push until it clicks. A connector that has not fully seated behaves exactly like the worn one you have just taken out.
